What widgets are
Widgets are the building blocks of a dashboard. Each widget shows data from a connected data source. You combine widgets freely on the grid to create one coherent view of your metrics.
Available widget types
Zweigen distinguishes three categories:
- Chart widgets: line, bar, column, pie, donut, polar, and radar charts for graphical data visualization
- Data widgets: KPI widget and table widget for compact metrics and structured overviews
- Text widgets: text widget without data binding for titles, definitions, and comments
Use cases and differences between the individual types are explained in Widget Types.
Create widgets: options in the dialog
When you click + Add element in Edit Mode, a selection dialog opens. There you choose:
- Type: which chart, KPI, table, or text widget you want to add
- Data source: which of your connected sources the widget uses
- Metrics and dimensions: which fields from the data source should be displayed
After adding it, you continue configuring the presentation in Widget Settings:
- Grid lines: show or hide grid lines in the chart background
- Legend: show or hide the legend for colors and dimension values
- Data labels: display values directly in the chart
- Axis labels: name or hide the X and Y axes
- Title: assign a descriptive name to the widget
Type-specific options, for example curve smoothing in a line chart or stacked versus side-by-side display in a bar chart, appear automatically when the corresponding type is selected.
Manage widgets in edit mode
You make all widget changes in Edit Mode. In read mode, you can inspect widgets and interact with filters, but you cannot edit them.
In edit mode, you can:
- Place widgets on the grid via drag and drop
- Resize widgets by dragging the lower-right corner
- Configure, duplicate, or delete widgets
- Adjust Data Binding and presentation settings
