Create Widgets

How to create new dashboard elements in edit mode, place them on the grid, and configure their content.

Add a new widget

You add widgets in edit mode. Switch to edit mode first before you can create a widget.

Step by step

  1. Open the dashboard and click Edit in the dashboard toolbar.
  2. Click + Add element. A selection dialog opens.
  3. Choose the widget type you want, for example a line chart or KPI widget.
  4. The new widget appears on the grid. Drag it to the desired position.
  5. Open the widget settings and choose the data source. Then choose the metrics and dimensions the widget should show.
  6. Adjust presentation settings such as title, colors, or axis labels.
  7. Click Save to keep all changes.

When you switch back to read mode, all changes are saved automatically. You can also click Save manually at any time.

Duplicate a widget

If you need a widget similar to an existing one, duplicate it. The duplicate keeps all settings and data binding of the original. You can then adjust it independently.

How to duplicate a widget:

  1. Click the widget in edit mode.
  2. Choose Duplicate in the context menu.
  3. The duplicate appears on the grid. Adjust it as needed.

This saves time when you need multiple similar charts for different metrics or time ranges.

Add a text widget

The text widget does not require data binding. Choose it in the selection dialog and place it on the grid. You can then enter text directly. Text widgets are suitable for section titles, notes, and comments.
