What granularity controls
Granularity defines how data is grouped in time-series charts. With daily granularity, a line chart shows one data point per day. With monthly granularity, it shows one data point per month. Granularity applies to all time-based widgets that use the dashboard time filter.

- Hour
- Day
- Week
- Month
- Quarter
- Year
Dependency on the data source
Which granularity levels are available depends on the imported data source. If an integration only provides daily data, hourly views are not available. For CSV and XLSX uploads, hour, day, week, and month are available by default.
Granularity follows the active storage policy: The available levels depend on the data source and its active storage policy. If you later change the default granularity in Data Sources, Zweigen shows a warning first and then automatically removes stored data that no longer matches the new policy.

Too fine a granularity on long periods makes charts hard to read. Too coarse a granularity on short periods hides day-to-day variation.
