Comparison Periods

Compare the current dashboard period with the previous period or previous year, and understand where the comparison appears.

What comparison periods do

Comparison periods place a reference value next to the current period. This lets you see at a glance whether a metric improved or worsened. Zweigen currently supports comparison in KPI widgets and in chart widgets for line, bar/column, radar, pie, doughnut, and polar area.

Available comparison options

  • Previous period - the equally long period directly before the selected range. For "Last month", the previous period is the month before that.
  • Previous year - the same period in the past year. For "This month", that means the same month one year earlier.

Enable a comparison

  1. Open the time filter in the dashboard toolbar.
  2. Enable Comparison.
  3. Choose Previous period or Previous year.
  4. Confirm the selection. All compatible widgets now show the comparison value.

Practical use

Month vs. previous month: Choose "This month" as the time range and enable comparison with the previous period. KPI widgets then show delta value and percentage change.

Month vs. previous year: Choose "This month" and compare it with the previous year. This is useful for seasonal products or industries where year-over-year comparison is more meaningful than month-over-month comparison.

Start with KPI widgets and line charts first. They make delta, direction, and trend easiest to read. Use radar, pie, doughnut, and polar-area charts as supporting views when you want to explain distribution shifts or structural changes.

  • Time Filter - Set the period for the whole dashboard
  • Granularity - Set the aggregation level for time-series charts
