Excel and CSV Upload

When upload is the right choice

Use CSV or XLSX upload when a person prepares and reviews the file before import. Typical cases are first import, backfill, finance export, or one-off corrections from spreadsheet-based processes.

For recurring automated imports between systems, use Custom API Connection instead.

How upload works

1. Create or verify a dedicated data source.
2. Prepare the file as CSV or XLSX.
3. Open Data Sources -> CSV / XLSX Upload and upload the file there.
4. Check mapping and structure before finalizing.
5. Start the import and verify the result through status or History.

What the interface covers

During upload, Zweigen shows a preview with structure and mapping validation before the actual import starts. There you assign the time column, metrics, and dimensions; in later uploads of the same data source, the stored mapping is reused. Multiple files or XLSX sheets can be prepared in one upload session. Previous uploads of the active data source are available under History.

Recommendations

• One clearly scoped business dataset per file or upload session
• For report-style XLSX files with multi-row headers, review and confirm extraction consciously during the mapping step
• One dedicated data source per origin, without mixing file upload and API in the same source
